Go to a local hardware store and buy a good stud finder tool. Then pick your preferred vent location and drill a small hole on the inside wall. Use a coat hanger to feel for any studs near the hole before drilling a larger hole. If the small hole turns out to be a bad choice (elec wires present), it can always be covered with a sticker or decorative button (this is inside a closet, right?). Another trick is to remove the nearest elec plug cover plate and find the stud spacing by probing in both directions.
The warranty concern for adding a dryer vent hole makes no sense, but I would contact your dealer to verify that.
