Fiberglass repair

We took our Triple E 340rl in to get fiberglass repair done. It had these little holes in the fiberglass that looked like someone took a 1/8 punch and then started making little holes in the fiberglass. On both sides I have an area about 2 feet highland 3 feet long. On the right side I have a small amount of delimitation at the bottom. The shop is quoting 7245 for fixing that and realigning the main slide. Does this sound like a reasonable price? They would cut out the old fiberglass and put in new.

Have you talked to a 'auto repair shop' or boat shop about the fiberglass repairs.

They deal with that stuff ALL the time

'the shop'.....is that an RV shop?

Fiberglass repair

It was a collision repair shop. Going to go pick it up and get a couple more estimates. Sending photos to Triple E to get a estimate from them.

What caused this in the first place? I have heard of water getting in and freezing causing this kind of damage to fiberglass this way. Not saying this is what happened, but if it is fixed without knowing what caused the issue you could be back at the same spot in a couple of years.
Why is it delaminating? Could it be from water damage I would be curious as to the cause of damage.

As far as price, we had damage the front bottom corner of our Road Warrior while towing. It happened because I had only folded the bedcover up only 3 times instead of folding against the back window. The hole was about the size of 1/2 dollar. The cost was $2600. We had 2 different estimates both within a few hundred of each.

Fiberglass is fairly easy to repair but its the gel-coat, paint, clear coat that takes a little know how. Gel-cote will not fully cure in the presence of air. Some people cover it with plastic wrap while other top coat with a mixture of styrene and gulf wax to create a barrier to allow the gel to cure.

What's a triple E? Fibre-glass can get blisters from water intrusion, poor resin bond when vacuum bagging etc. Happens a lot to boats that do not have the correct barrier coat to be left in the water. Just google fibre-glass blisters and you will see lots of examples. After the blisters pop and fall off they leave hundreds of little holes.

Tripl E

Triple E was a manufacturer in Canada. They built high end 4 season campers including fifth wheels. They now only manufacture Class B. They are the owners of Liesure vans. I figure this fifth wheel was parked someplace and may even have been covered. The only thing I can see wrong is that they didn’t appear to apply caulk where needed. Hence the water intrusion on the sides. I have checked everywhere else and can’t find any water intrusion. For the price we paid it is well worth putting the. Money into considering what I am hearing about manufacturers quality today.
