When I was looking at a couple different used rigs a while back, I contacted the NRVIA,
www.nrvia.org, to provide an inspection report on the rigs I was looking at. Never pulled the trigger, but the 2 different inspectors I spoke with seemed very knowledgeable. They put their name and reputation on the line in doing inspections and giving you a signed report. Had I got truly serious about one of these rigs, I felt very comfortable in using an inspector from them.
