Fifth wheel trailer rating

I am looking to buy a fifth wheel trailer of 30'-36' to full time about 4-5 months a year. I will buy something about 5 years old, but I have no idea who makes a good quality & who doesn't. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

There are no ratings, only opinions of owners, good and bad. What you should do is sit down and list what you want out of it.

Must haves
Nice to haves
and what you will using as a Tow Vehicle.

Then you can go shopping and asking opinions about the different units you find.

I agree with the above statement plus you need to decide how much you want to spend on a used trailer. Another item to consider is on some models the suspension could be worn out by then and the tires all 5 of them will need to be replace. I would also look at the brakes drums plus brake shoes which may need to be replace by then.

If you're planning to live in it for several months at a time you might want to try and avoid the low end trailers.
Excel (Petersen Industries) was a good brand with good build quality and insulation, but they seized production a few months ago, having said that this is no reason to avoid them.
It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. Also, 5 years ago was the time when most manufacturers were in big trouble and cut corners where they shouldn't have. Finding the right unit will mostly be leg work.

For a 5 year old rig, look at DRV and Excel. If a little older, add NUWA. Personally I'd look at 2-3 year old units if affordable. Original owner takes a healthy depreciation hit and has already fixed most of the original flaws. Rig still has fairly up to date features (LED lights, flat screen TV's, residential frig, etc. ). Haven't reached the point of having to do major replacements and extended warranties are reasonable to obtain. Again, depends on budget, but if doable, might be worth investigating.
