Fridge stopped working.

We were camping last weekend and our fridge stopped working. Our fridge runs on electric only. It was working fine, then the following morning it was not running. After checking the breaker and fuse box we finally figured out the plug no longer had power. Don’t know what caused the issue. There was another plug next to it in the cabinet next to the fridge. Plugged the fridge into it. Now it works fine. Does anyone know if the 2nd plug might be connected to the 12 volt too or how we can tell? I am electrically challenged. Know a little but not enough to even guess at this.

Assuming the plugs you are talking about are 120vac household plugs - the original plug MIGHT be on a GFI.

That you are electrically challenged, you might find someone who can help you check out you electrical fuse panel - as in - remove all power to the coach and take the cover off the breakers to access the internal wiring of the breakers.
Check each and every wire connection, at each breaker, all bonding screws for tightness, etc.. Look for burned wiring and repair as needed.

I think you need to let us know what kind of rig you have the problem with, then someone with a rig like it can give you their best advice.

If I was going to take a stab in the dark, I would have to say the socket to the fridge is 110VAC powered through an inverter connected to the battery. A 110VAC connector is just like your fridge at home, 3 pin, 1 round 2 flat pins. 12VDC will be about 3/4 inch round with a pin in the middle and ground slides on the side for light duty like cell phone chargers for the car power-ports.

A word of advice about 110AC it can hurt you so be careful mucking around with it.

Going to assume you have a residential style fridge, like in your house. Now saying this, the outlet you are talking about is powered by an inverter. Saying this, there should be a fridge dedicated transfer switch plugged into the bottom of the inverter.
So, assuming allot here, check the bottom of the inverter for a GFCI outlet. See if there is power there. This outlet can be reset, like the one in the bathroom.
Check this and let us know, what is going on at that point.

We had this setup in our toy-hauler before we changed to a full rig solar system.

Based on OP he has no idea what this means.

I suggest getting someone in there who knows what they are looking at. There is too much involved to help from here if you don't know what we're talking about.

You have an LG Residential Fridge
120VAC Outlet is powered via Inverter ---- check if Inverter Circuit Breaker(s) has tripped (on the inverter)

Other 120VAC Outlet is powered by Shore Power when hooked up or Generator when running.....it is not powered when you are traveling hence the other one via the Inverter so fridge is powered all the time

Look in your MANUALS for info about 120VAC , about your Inverter ETC

with very little info on the type of fridge its hard to be a big help. some of the 5+ old rigs used 12 volt/ propane and 120 volt to operate the Absorbtion style fridge. They have a long history of having bad control boards and would work on 120 but not propane / 12 volt . Dinosaur electric boards was the best way to fix the problem and they were for sale on Amazon a few years ago .
