Fiberglass came loose, it is curved out above the hitch pin. How is this attached to the trailer. Is this a dealer fix or can this be done by owner.

This is a 2000 27 1/5 Terry Ex 5th wheel. The bow is about 24 inches in height and all the way across from side to side. It starts at the molding above the pin box.

Need more info. What kind of trailer? How old? Exactly where and how much bowing?

Terry,
I hate to be the bearer of sad tales, but I don't like what I read. You may have the pinbox framing starting to let loose. Pull a string tight from side to side in front of the kingpin so you can see if you are still straight - - or is there a gap in the middle of the string? If there is, measure it. Now, hookup your truck, let the trailer load the pin and stretch the string again. Is the gap larger? Also note the amount of bow from being unhitched to being hitched.

If you find you have had an increase in the bow, you probably have failure in the framing in front of the kingpin. Let us know what that little experiment showed.
Bob

Terry,
Check on line or call the 5th wheel dealer. There is a liftime recall on certain 5th wheel frames. Excessive flexing is caused at the pin box which caused the front cap our our old Gulf Stream Sea Hawk to crack exposing the bedroom. Even though our unit was purchased used and was almost 3 years old, Gulfstream installed a new fron cap, cut and repaired the bedroom slide and installed the fix kit for the pin...All at NO CHARGE. They know they have a problem...
