I would be interested to know about how this works out as far as sound. Ours is prewired and has stencil cuts for a 6,000 watt LP Onan generator in the front basement area under the bathroom/bedroom, typical of most 5th wheels. We got a price and was about to get one installed but worry if it would be loud enough to interfear with sleeping. Probably a subjective issue. Something similar to a microwave would be OK but our diesel truck would not.

The diesel pushers usually have the generator on the opposite end from the sleeping quarters.

I'm actually surprised at how quiet mine is to be honest. Now I haven't tried or even thought of sleeping with it on as I just really don't need it at night. One thing I did was run the exhaust about 10 feet worth to clear the slides and clear the side of the trailer just like it's shown in the manual. 2 feet to frame, 8 feet or so down then about 18 to 24 " to size of trailer... it adds up.
Mine is a commercial 7k over kill power wise so it just purrs and after about 5 min you don't notice it much anymore. Biggest load is 15k ac, water heater, microwave. Recon battery charger too.

I doubt commercial line is different for noise or the exhaust line does much just putting it out there for info. It might though as it moves some noise away from the motor noise. I'm no expert.

Inside I hear and know it's running but its very livable. Sleep... im sure I could but others might have issue.

Now that I think about it I think the AC would make about the same noise as the generator

Thanks. The A/C running comparison is what I needed.
