Good Sam club

Greetings all

Is it appropriate here to ask questions about good Sam? DH and I have yet to purchase our 5th wheel but are leaning toward the new Presidential.

Good Sam club is owned by the Affinity Group, I believe. They also own Camping World, Trailer Life and others. The main benefit is 10% off at GS affiliated campgrounds, and now at Camping World. If you sign up, be prepared to be inundated by solicitations for other ways to spend money, unless you make sure you opt out of it when you join.
We usually find a way to get back what we spend on membership. We also use the GS Road Service. They push hard on the extended warranty part of their business.
If you are buying used, then the road service may be useful.
If you buy new, then you are going to constantly be finding 'stuff' that you need and the 10% at Camping World will help--but be aware CW is usually not the lowest-price for camping gear, so it will pay to shop the internet on large purchases.

What wingnut60 said X3 or even more. Camping World
I've never been able to get 30% off I've asked no reply.
Also watch there shipping price some one like Tweetys and others
lot of time cheaper and no shipping cost.
RV Supplies, 5th Wheel Hitches and Electrical Plumbing by Tweetys be sure to search internet before buying.
I don't think I've got money back off of having Good Sam's Club.
But will sign up another year to try again.

Technically, if you stay at GS campgrounds more than 8-10x/year, you should get back the membership cost. But, a lot of CGs also honor AARP/AAA and others that would give you the same discount.
Now if you buy the new HR Presidential and take off on a trip, and the brand new Chinese tires on the unit blow, then the GS road service will come in handy.
After the initial warranty is gone, the GS extended warranty seems to work pretty well from reports on the different forums.
However, if you are going to purchase a major item, or lots of items, for the camping lifestyle, do yourself a big favor and shop on the internet for price comparisons to Camping World, or find a local RV dealer with a good inventory of parts and compare there.

Life Member of Good Sam. If you look at what they charge there magazine is worth that. Also like iRV2 it is a conversation starter.

Also I'm hoping Good Sam's "Travel Assist" is helpful. Actually I don't want to use it but if I die while on a trip, Good Sam will provide a driver to get the MH home. Also other benefits but getting my, or DW's, MH home is the biggy

Figure we've gotten our money back by now, but places also give discounts for FMCA membership.
The magazine is pretty much an ad for their stores but still has some good info once in a while.

Thanks

Thanks all for the good Sam info. DH and I used the book yesterday to check out a camp site in MD shore. Castaways received a great rating but it must have been an off weekend. There were not many people to chat with. We know which 5th wheel we want but know Nothing about RV life. We figure that's the best way to learn. We really enjoy reading all the posts here.
