If this is the same 5th wheel that was posted a while back then from what I read the OP was backing up and hit the front right corner of his car. When he pulled forward the lower right rear of the 5er caught on the seam where the fender and bumper of the car are attached. It was just enough of a catch to tear the rear of the 5er off.
He posted many pictures of the whole incident. You could also see the sloppy work that GD did in assembling the rear cap.
Part of the issue and probably the main one was that there were no wood fillers in the aluminum studs for the few screws that were used to attach to.
Also the screws on the bottom edge of the cap missed the spot where they were supposed to be screwed. They went into the edge of the 5/8" flooring instead of a metal backing plate.
Very few screws as well on the sides.
Other items that came up were the lack of roof insulation above the cabinets and other flimsy build points.

There was a post a few days/weeks ago from a guy who snagged the right rear of his 5er on a gas pump and it poped open the back wall. Minor damage to the side wall but complete detachment of the rear. Pretty sure it was a GD but not sure if this is the same one or not?

It's funny, your the guy that came up with the first theory!

Those TV ads keep showing an auto with a detached bumper and they use Gorilla tape to secure it. Hmmmm maybe, just maybe.

I don't understand the point of your post? I was simply trying to start a friendly discussion about what might have happened to the trailer

I`ve used GORILLA tape before and it`s pretty stout stuff so you maybe on to something there.

Probably got sucked off when the driver exceeded 80 mph! Usually it takes 120 mph before that happens!

If that happened two days ago the Grand Design has some issues. That would be the second one posted on the net in a few months. I know that there's no way in Heck that my rear cap would peel off like that.
I'm guessing that GD has some quality control problems that need addressed.

The ad I saw was using Flex-seal to secure the plastic bumper which is not heavy at all.

It's a Grand Design. If it's a factory issue, they'll take care of it..
