The Grand Design of today is not the same as earlier models. Wether its due to huge growth in sales or cheapening of the brand after Winnebago bought them out is still in debate. But the RV’s being pumped out the door today are not the same quality as in the early years. Customer service is also spotty and seems to rely soley on the attitude of the CSR who answers the phone. While others get the royal treatment when calling, another gets a cold shoulder. That is what really set GD apart in the early years; a kind of no questions asked service mentality with parts shipped right to your door step. What unfortunately hasn’t changed is the premium prices being charged when a competitor will be several thousand less in a similar floor plan and length.
Two, three years ago, no question we would buy a new GD rig. Today, not so much.

We are in the process of negotiating / buying a 390RK-R and there is no other floor plan such as this.

Which GD models have you had or is GD an approved RV line to bash w/o actually having owned one.

27RL. You do whatever you want. Sorry that my experiences don’t support your narrative.

GD 377MBS Thoughts

Does any one have any thoughts or experience good or bad with this particular model , the Solitude line or Grand Design in general.

We are particularly interested on people's thoughts regarding the quality of construction, useability, longevity and any cold climate experience.

Thanks
We just bought a used 2019 Solitude 377MBS, I'm new to RV'ing and I candidly love it, it's a beast and there's nothing on that you can't troubleshoot or fix (when we bought it 3 months ago, I would NOT have said that, but it's pretty simple). LCI customer support has been great, GD support is a bit of a laugh, but they try. I was a Navy Aircraft engineer for years, so maybe that stuff paid off. Some days are painful, not going to lie, getting new batteries in this beast will break your back for example, but most stuff can all be found in this forum. Best wishes if you get it.

hmm

What I have not seen in this thread and is CRITICAL. The dealer is everything. We are on our 3rd** GD and have had NO problems because our dealer checks everything
and fix's it before before we pick up the RV. Yes just about all RV's are made the same and that is why you must find a good dealer and most RV dealers are CRAP, used car salesmen at best

** 3rd because we have had a few cases of "bigger RV itis", had the same problem with sailboats :(

GD has treated us, second Owners, like we robbed them. We couldn't get any help clearing up why 2018 parts are on a 2017 VIN # 375RES Solitude that was advertised as a 2018 and paid at 2018 pricing. You people do understand the automatic loss of several thousand dollars of equity with that new knowledge?

Called and asked for wall construction schematics. Was told "no problem" by GD customer service. Crickets

I will never buy another GD.
