Half ton toy hauler? Oxymoron, unless you have toys that fit in regular storage compartments.

My last truck was a 1/2 Ford towing a 21 foot toy hauler TT. Would never have considered a fifth wheel, truck not capable of the pin weights.
Had the V8 motor and tow package, but once I loaded the toys, I was pretty much maxed out. Also consider the weight of all the stuff in the bed of the truck.

3/4 ton trucks have 6000- 6500 rawr and are good for around 2800-3200 lbs payload in the bed...all depending on how the truck is configured and actual scaled axle weights.
Ram 2500 crew cab 6.4 hemi long box 2wd has up to a 3480 gvwr payload.
GM 2500 crew cab long bed 4wd WT configuration has a 3200 lb gvwr based payload per gm weight calculator.
Fords F250 6.2 gas crew cab 4wd about the same 3200 lb gvwr based payload.
RV websites are notorious for posting low payloads from a heaviest configured truck....and posting it as typical for all trucks that class. I would advise you to do your own homework using the mfg weight specs for each truck on how much load any truck can carry.
Also drop by your local state troop hdqtr and ask question on how much load can your truck safely/legally carry. Eliminates guessing and opinions.

These tree websites are the holy grail for mfg mechanical weight specs. Ford web for example shows all the differences and same as for their packages. Spend some time on each one.

Lol. If the mood struck me I’d have the ability too that’s for sure.
I’m selling the Fleetwood and looking at toy hauler options.

Our Ford 1 ton does the job well for our needs and weights....besides, where we live if you go bigger, DMV fees take affect and crank the cost of registration significantly.

Technically yes, Chevy gave up to a 10200lb rating if you have a ex cab, 2wd, with the 6.2. Sure he doesn’t, and if he’s got a crew cab Chevy says no dice

The 1500 chevy 6.2 420hp/460 torque with the NHT package 6 or 8 speed tranny 3.73 axle comes with a 7600 GVWR and 4300 rawr.
Payloads on many models are 2k lbs plus...so sure this truck can pull a 5th wheel trailer and carry its rated payload.
However a 11k lb 5th wheel trailer like my 11200 lb 5th wheel has 2200-2400 lb pin weight and will overload the 1500 4300 rawr.
Tow rating cover all types of trailers...not just a rv.
Over on one of the toy hauler webs we see a few 5th wheel TH that are light enough for a F150HD or the 1500 GM with the NHT package or older '00 1500 GM and Dodge with 8600 gvwr and 6k rawr.

7000 lb is all id feel safe with in a 1/2 ton, but to go farther than 7K? even if ford says you can do 12K dot might not care, in fact they wont care and could park you.
untill you get a large enough tow vehicle to pick up the trailer. Id check laws in your state with the weights as well, remember just because you can go forward does not mean youll be able to stop !!! things to consider be safe!
