Before the toyhauler, we carried 3 stacked inside. There was just enough room for them with the slide pulled in.

My 12' kayak would fit in the longer living room/dinning area slide if I angled it just a little.
Here it is ready to take out of the 5th wheel. It would be partially on the table and partially on the chairs. Now I did wipe the kayak clean before I put in on the chairs .

What camper is that? We have 2 ten footers. Haven't decided on a camper for sure but right now the cougar 368mbi is the front runner and has the slides like that one. Never thought there would be room for a kayak there. I was thinking in the hall between the bedroom and the step maybe.

I've never used one but I like the idea of the Vertiyak or one of the many similar racks:

Putting it inside sounds like too much work and, knowing me, I'd end up scratching or otherwise damaging something inside my rig.

If you have a ladder you could probably use a couple of ratchet straps to fasten it to the ladder. It keeps it outside and if you put some water pipe insulation on the ladder it shouldn't scratch it up. Other than that the hitch rack would be my second choice as I'm pretty sure the better half isn't going to have any part of it being in the coach. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

I had looked at some of those vertical racks. Those are not ideal to me for a few reasons. They're expensive for what they are, I don't like how low some of those put the nose of the kayak to the ground, and it seems like 2 bouncing kayaks back there would put an incredible amount of force on the hitch.
That being said that was one of the reasons for this thread. I wanted to get real world experiences with hauling them and if people do that and have no problems I'd definitely consider a vertical mount.

We used to transport one inside our rig in earlier days. Earlier this year bought a Vertiyak and love it for our two kayaks now. Use two straps real tight, and you can alter the height so the nose of the yaks are above the lowest point of rear base of RV.
It's worked well for us this summer driving around our province and I've driven behind this year the RV with a chase car, and they've travelled well even in cross winds which our province is well known for!

Saw a rig the other day with a rack on the TV that extended all the way forward to the front bumper with two supports there. Two good sized kayaks on top just stuck out behind the roof of the crew cab without interfering with the fiver. Make it out of aluminum and it will be light. Get to your destination and drive the TV to the launch site without having to do extra steps.

That was a 2011 SunnyBrook Bristol Bay 3510. If you have two 10' slides it would be tricky to angle a 12' kayak to fit. There was very little risk of scratching anything because the the kayak was plastic. I used a few beach towels to cushion the kayak and to secure it better. Was it perfect, no. Did it work, yes. Would I do it like that again, yes.

Of course it depends on how much you use it and what you want but I know inflatable kayaks are pretty easy to store.
The vertical mount on the back looks like it would work until a bump or a bridge rips it off.
