Thanks for the help. The original has the wings now the hole is too big. Maybe a different style will work. I know I can add some wood with screws but I'm hoping to avoid screws.
The camper is new so I want it to look good.

If it is a new camper take it back and let the dealer deal with it.

Put a remodel blue box in there from home depot, or go double sized, or use this for 1 side of the double: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZO...b_b_asin_title. Easy fix.

This seems to be an issue of finding the correct adhesive. Hardening adhesives. such as epoxies tend not to work on slick surfaces, which it seems you have on the back side of the paneling. You might try 3M weatherstrip adhesive, it comes in both black and yellow although I don't think this matters to you. It is what stock car racing teams use to attach lugnuts to wheel and when only partially dry it is stretchy. After it's set up for a week after a race it take pliers to get the lugnuts off of the wheels. I would put some on both sides of whatever you want to glue to the back side of the paneling and clamp it for 24-48 hours. I think this and an oversized cover plate will solve your problems. Good luck.

If you are forced to use a shallow "old work box', you most likely will not be able to install a USB charging outlet. There take up as much room as a GFCI receptacle.

I make oversize plates of thin wood and use decorative screws to attach. After a very short period of time you will not even notice the screws.

What are the dimensions of the hole, and while you have the tape measure, the depth behind the wall.

Find a mobile home place and get a 4 outlet to put in, you will need to enlarge the hole. RV's and mobile homes have shallow walls and they use a different box as you have learned. If you can't find one local try here: https://bontragers.com/

Consider drilling tiny holes in corners of outlet face plate, where you will have wood behind the holes, then screw it on.

I ended up using the Loctite two part epoxy to add a piece of wood to the back of the wall. That held extremely well.

If it doesn’t hold, Buy a old work mud ring. The kind with dog ears, that turn and sandwich themselves to the luan. Since that’s an RV outlet you don’t need a box enclosure. A box would be better but you’d have to disconnect the wires and pinch them back in, it’s more work.

If an older RV without the multitude of USB charge ports my new TT has, adding an outlet with USB charging ports is a great idea. Good bit more expensive, but much cleaner than all of the plug in chargers.

If you have a cigarette lighter style plug-in outlet anywhere, you can also convert that to a combined USB outlet. Sometimes the orange boxes for phone and internet wiring are less deep than AC boxes, if that's a problem with the blue ones.

Pardon the language, but this is the common name for it...
There is something called a f??k-up plate that is larger than a normal wall plate. It's designed to fix exactly what you have as a problem. Go to an electrical supply place and ask for one--they'll laugh, and then sell you a 'bigger' wall plate.
