HELP!!! how to lockout Reese 5th airborne kingpin?!?!

I have a 5th airborne kingpin on my 5th wheel. It is not the regular thinner sidewinder but the full one with air bag and shock. I got a new truck with a long bed now and a diff hitch and want to lock out the kingpin so it operates like a regular solid kingpin now. All I keep getting from the “experts” on etrailer or similar sites is use the same bolts 3/4x5.5” grade 5 as in regular sidewinder to lock it out. These are nowhere even close to the right length to do it. They keep sending me the same pics from the sidewinder saying it is done the same way with the same bolts on the 5th airborne but it is physically impossible. Has anyone on here done it for sure and knows how ?!?!

Give Reese a call, they made it they should know how to lock it out. The install manual for the Airborne says there are two 3/4 bolts that need to be installed at the very rear of the Pin Box to lock it out.

Yeah. Tried that. They transfer me to some company that makes it in France that after 3 calls during business hours have yet to answer the phone. No one at Reese can tell me anything.

Then if 5.5" are not long enough go buy some 3/4" grade 5 bolts/nuts in the length you need.
Nothing 'special' about them...3/4" Grade 5

Torque to 275 lbs-ft

You can rent a 1/2 drive torque wrench.

You might need a 3/4 drive socket and torque wrench for that ft/lb requirement. You need the longer handle length on a 3/4 drive to get up there in the 200+ft/lb area. My craftsman 1/2 drive torque wrench only goes up to 160lb/ft. At that I have most all of my 200lb body on it to make it click
Just my 1/2 cent experience

You are absolutely right, it will take at least a 3/4 to get 275. I had to remove my head from by back side to see that.
