Make sure all drain traps have water in them. Shower, sinks, and washing mach. Keep toilet valve closed. Does the toilet hold water?

Grow Chrysanthemums or use pyrethrin spray.

Are they gnats, sewer or fruit flies. ID will be under left front leg.

We had a persistent stink beetle infestation several years ago....drove those suckers all the way to Maine for free - they had taken up residence in the electronics board compartment in the rooftop bedroom AC. We never could find the nest... until the AC failed and I was on the roof metering the capacitor lol.

In the stix-n-brix we fill a small tea cup 1/3 with wine, (cheap white zinfandel), plus ONE drop of dishwashing liquid, do not stir. Set it out on the counter. Might try a few of these for large numbers of gnats / fruit flies.

Permethrin-the premix available at Home Depot made for clothes and fabrics. Spray on any cloth surfaces and they will disappear shortly. If no cloth you can spray open walls and clean off later. I also spray the screen door to keep noseeums out as well.

White wine vinegar dish soap a plastic cup and a paper funnel

I used a clear 8 oz plastic cup, filled about 1/3 full of vinegar, mixed in some blue dawn dish soap (don’t know if “blue” matters but that’s what directions called for) made a paper funnel to put inside the cup, keep it out of the liquid, used a pencil to poke a hole in the bottom of the funnel.

Had gnats inside the trap within minutes, camper cleared over night. Make sure to tape funnel to cup so they cant escapeClick image for larger version

pesky little buggers come right through closed screens. I put a light on in the kitchen( I have a rear kitchen) and let it attract then, then out comes the Raid.

Pyrethrin based sprays and fogs are very effective but remember they are very bad for pets and can make them sick or even kill them. I used it to win the asian beetle battle (lady bug) last year but had to clean everything before allowing the dogs back in.

Permethrin is safe for dogs, you can even apply it on them. Not safe for cats though so a good point nonetheless.

Happy travels!

I had a renter once insist I need to come over and take care of a fruit fly infestation she had in her house. I found a pail of rotten pears she had left on the back porch. Got rid of the food source, fruit flies were gone. Gnats are attracted to lights, maybe change to yellow bulbs.
