Highest Quality $60-$70k New 5r?

My wife and I have been looking at purchasing a new 5th wheel and have been to 5 different lots and looked quiet a bit on line at the different makes, models and floor plans. It’s real easy to like the Redwoods, DRVs and Van Leigh’s, they all appear very well made with nice furniture, appliances and fixtures….but for $150k MSRP, we’re not ready for that just yet.

We have narrowed our current list to the Alliance Paradigm, GD Solitude and Columbus River Ranch, which are all $109k MSRP and $80-$85k after not much discussion.

My question is are there any manufacturers and makes/models of good quality in the $55-$70k range we should consider? We’re willing to give up some length and some other niceties, but don’t want to drastically compromise quality; auto-levelers and 3 A/Cs are high on the want list. Yes, we know it’s all about floor plan and yep, all RVs have their issues and need work, this will be our 20th year of RV’ing so we’re pretty used to frivolous RV spend!! 😁

I am thinking you can buy a Keystone Montana for around 60k. That will be after a discount.

There is also the Jayco North Point, one step down from the Jayco Pinnacle.

Not sure what the 32'/34' high end 5th wheels would cost.

We bought or new Alliance 310RL in February '21 for $64,500 plus tax. MSRP was around $85k IIRC. Yes it has 3 AC units, auto-leveler and nice appliances (18cuft fridge and 4-flame stove, solid surface counters etc.). 2 of the ACs can run on a 30 amp outlet. Furnace is super quiet. So far quite happy, workmanship/quality is IMO well above average, mine came by mistake also with 200W solar package that was not on the invoice. But I understand the discount opportunities in February were better than now.

MSRP's are around $94K+ depending on options now.

Have you looked at Cameo or Cedar Creek? I looked at both today and I was very impressed after looking at both Montana and Montana HC a couple days ago. I was less than impressed with either of those two.

I guess you could hit the $60-70K mark with a number of units. Patience and a broad search might work but you are fighting against some unusual market conditions. Just from what I read here that kind of money does not buy what it would have a year or even less ago.

We bought our Pinnacle a year ago last month. It had an MSRP of $98,5ish. Our initial price was $68,600 but went up some with the addition of a washer dryer and replacing both a/c's with low profile ac/heat pumps. I looked not long ago and the MSRP on the same unit would now be north of $112, not including shipping. Not sure what factors would go in to that kind of increase other than market conditions and increased supplier prices.

Buy Used. Check consignment lots. Used will get you higher end units for lower prices.

We just traded in our problem free bumper pull 2014 Cougar 28RLS for a 2021 Montana High Country 295RL. Looked at 12 different brands & for 54k in my opinion was a better quality 5th wheel in that range. 11,300 empty weight with a 2300 pin weight fits in the numbers of our 2015 Hemi Ram. Was offered 9 k trade in allowance for our 28RLS in 2017 . Got 13.5 k trade in allowance due to RV shortage in April 2021. @ 34ft long its perfect floor plan for me , wife & 66 lb Australian Shepard. 2015 Hemi Ram 2500 4x4 with towing capacity of 12,850 & payload capacity of 3130. We don't boondoock so no need to carry water or tank waste water. Most of our camping adventures are on the Texas/ Louisiana Gulf coast so it works for us.

That is good to know, as so many people don't include that in their initial posting. For us, we like the idea of a very sturdy chassis and 4 season quality insulation and good construction. We purchased our first 5th back in '03, it was an Arctic Fox 24-5N which was perfect for the two of us. We put about 90k miles on it with trips coast to coast and as far north as Coldfoot, AK and Inuvik NT.

After 15 years of use, we gave that one to a friend and purchased an Arctic Fox 27-5L. We are happy with that one too. Very good quality and within your budget. Plenty of floor plans to look at.

I mentioned that I had looked at some RV’s recently. I bought a truck this weekend and likely paid about $3k over regular value due to the truck shortage. They also gave me some extra for my Wrangler, and I know the truck is sellable, so I’m not too worried.

Our MH is going up for sale. I think we’re going to wait a year or so before buying another RV with the way prices are. The market is strong right now but will fall off again soon when things get corrected and prices will become reasonable again.

All that said, and based on my history, I’ll probably have a new fifth wheel on the street next weekend

If you are judging on quality I paid $62,000 out the door for my F28 RKS Titanium Outdoors RV last year. Better construction and pretty good bling factor for the money. Built to last, better frame etc.

+1 on Cedar Creek, perhaps the lowest price “Extended Stay” construction.
