It is operator error but the deign is poor. High hitch a brinkley head and you will not damage it. High hitch a B&W and you won't damage it. PullRite is a poor design.

I have a superglide. I guess I'm not understanding whats different about the design of the head that makes it more prone to damage when high hitched.

Maybe I dont understand the terminology you are using. Are you talking about the pin on the pinbox being damaged? What is different about the design of the superglide vs another type of hitch (design wise) that makes it more prone to be damaged or to damage the pin box?

Asking mainly so that I can recognize and understand if something were to happen to mine.

He had and I had same one for a while. It is not the slider unit Super 5ther his 16k, mine was 20k. It has on bottom on locking head a small plate, 1/8" thick with a 3/8" pin welded to it. Part of latching mechanism. If you high hitch that head it will bend that plate. His broke the welded pin and it prevented him from even hooking up. Poor design. Lots of inexperienced campers high hitch. It should not destroy hitch head. Mine sheared the bolts holding it together. Replaced with strongest carriage bolts I could find and gave it away.
