How to Find Someone Qualified to Check Used 5th Wheel

Interested in purchasing a used 5th wheel. I would like to hire independent qualified tech person to check it out. Live close to Austin TX. How do you find a qualified person to do this?

Yeah....rv repairs...rv dealers...mobile mechanics.
Personal recomendations go a long way in the rv industry...if you don't know someone..I am sure someone in your neighborhood has an rv....start a conversation and see if they would recommend one.

Personally I am a fan of an independant third party opinion. If this is a private seller...do not use their mechanic....find another locally.

You also might try some of the local RV parks. The park owners have probably been in the area for a time and may know or recommend someone who does service calls or RV repairs.

For a boat there are 'surveyors' for hire that are supposed to know all ins and outs of boats.

Finding a surveyor you trust is an issue.

For an RV there really are no such profession. I don't know why.

It is best to look at several units and ask a lot of questions so you feel more informed when looking.

I would say the #1 issue to look for is a leak. You can buy a moisture detector at Costco for not a lot of money. You probably could hire someone to check the roof and look for any cracking of the sealants. But again - there is a huge degree of keeping your fingers crossed.
