I scraped the paint off the top and these are atwoods, is there a way to take the cover off to grease the gears, I figure they look like they should be maintained along with the rest of the RV.

the cover is only held on by the wire spring clip, pry the spring clip over the top and the cover pulls right off. I use wheel bearing grease in mine about once every year.

Thanks for the input, I had tried to pull it apart, but everything seems to be held pretty tight and seemed to just be bending everything, but maybe now that I have scraped paint off it may come now.
It seems to be tight at the back so maybe that was holding the clip tight also.
But will have to give it another try and see if the clip will move this time.
