North Carolina has no trailer inspections. Automobiles and trucks must have an inspection within 90 days of the tag renewal.. The weight rules do not apply to Non-Commercial Recreation vehicles. I just renewed the tag on my 15.5K 5th wheel for 11.00$ it is classified as trailer with sleeping quarters and costs less than the renewal of my utility trailers which cost 19.00$ per year.

Craven co..i was just looking to see when taxes and tags were do on the truck and car and read in there that you had to do trailors like you had to do cars and it went on with you had to get it inspected before they would give you a tag..( i don't put anything past any state gov. These days-- tax happy!)..so i figured what better place to ask ..5th wheel forum..i know it sounded like a dumb question..but it my help someone else too..thank-you...oh and they charged me an arm and a leg for the truck- i had to get a weighted tag...

Depends on your state.

Texas requires an annual trailer inspection.

I am glad nc doesn't..i was a little concerned..suppose to be a bad winter and i didn't want to have to get out on icy roads just for an inspection..

I am in Gaston County NC, I am just glad that I do NOT have to cover the weight of the Camper on my truck tag. The 10,000 lb tag costs enough without having to pay for the 25000 lb tag that would be needed to cover my loaded weight with the camper!

Gaston County between Cherryville and Dallas. I am a life long resident of NC, (except for 7 years in the Navy) and I get to ask questions from our weight enforcement friends from time to time.
