Is My Hydraulic Stabilizer Leaking?

Hey guys,

I noticed some oil residue on my stabilizer (photos attached) and need
to know if this is normal or if I have a problem with it.

Thanks so much for your input!

I recommend cleaning it off and seeing if it returns and if yes then the seal is likely seeping. If you can run your finger around where the seal meets the jack body then you may have your answer even sooner. My manual wants me to clean the jacks often and spray the stainless tube with silicone and that alone can cause a mess.

What he said along with if it's bad a good cylinder repair shop can probably repair it for a lot less than a replacement. Check with a heavy equipment dealer. BTW, brake cleaner works well.

Clean it off and inspect for continued leak. I had the same issue on one Lippert trailer jack last winter, wiped it off and leak dissappeared. If leak persists and after troubleshooting the cause you confirm it is a faulty jack easiest thing to do is replace it.

+1 for the brake cleaner it's what I use. I just did this maintenance and greased them and magic bananas they work perfectly.
