I am with Old Biscuit on this first off.

I have had broken springs. Broken/missing bolts.
Fixed everything myself, with a lot of help and encouragement from friends.
Never for the cost your talking about.
Hell, I had a shoo build a 6" tube steel lift for my rig since my truck was to tall to tow my 5th. That only cost $1500. All repairs and adjustments total less that $3000.
Fix the spring. Go somewhere else and find a place that doesn't think they have you over a barrel. Then fix what you have the way you want it fixed so you feel comfortable with it.

Then, roll on down the road and enjoy it.

I'm surprised your insurance company even considered a claim. What did they cover it under and why would you expect it to be covered in the first place?

Pricing suggestions here we're correct
I got an estimate of $3500 from a frame shop
That's what prompted the INS co to send a second appraiser
In the end I accepted the payoff and walked away
Happy with new trailer and back to full-time

To Mt Camper: I tried the warranty co first and they said it wasn't covered. Told me to contact my INS co. And they pa Ii d off. Guess they considered it an accident

Alternately they offered $44000 and I keep the trailer if I want to repair.
(The actual value of trailer they said was $49000, subtract $4420 buy back price and they came to $44000+)

Spring repair shop offered to repair frame and springs for $3300 including 2 new tires.
They say the bent and twisted frame will "snap" back into place once the weight is off the axles.

Anyone ever heard of this "snap back" stuff? Doesn't seem right to me that steel I-beam would not be warped after this damage. CAn such a repair be trusted. I travel in Winter and put plenty miles on the RV.

So, good news about payoff since I gave $33000 for trailer in 2020.

Jim
Hi Jim if you don’t mind me asking what insurance company do you have? Currently have some friends that are going through the same problem and apparently the insurance company is saying it’s due to poor maintenance not a catastrophic problem.
