We almost did that with one of our cats!! He was on top of the slide and we didn't notice it till the slide was almost out. Luckily he let out a yowl and there was a little room he could move into. I check a lot more closely now!

I did the same thing with a table lamp.
I usually use a 20 Gauge for ducks.

I had forgotten that I heard that yowl once. Reflex made me release the button. Moved the slide in a little and the cat jumped down. That was a year ago. Cat hasn't been up there since!

I needlessly killed a case of bottled water the same way.

On ours they use a latching type switch/relay. Once you push the button it continues to travel till you push it again or it meets enough resistance to shut itself off. I almost wasn't fast enough as I started the slide and then went to do something else.

Since it was your favorite duck, I feel the tears.
When's the duckin' funeral!

I did the same thing to DH's "whiskey jug" that he had won for 3rd place in a hillbilly contest at an rv rally. He was not too happy with me, I didn't have it velcro'd down, oops!

Oh, please let it be so! I despise those commercials. A true waste of airtime.

That's what you get for not having all your ducks in a row.
