King Of The Road Crown Marquis
I've found a rarely used 40 ft model. I have a Volvo to pull it but plan on using it as a summer residence with very little moving.
Can anyone comment on any known problems with these units, like roof or slide issues, etc.

We just got a KOTR. The parent company, Chief Industries is still in business but they simply stopped production. I am told there is a small staff at the plant and there are no plans to resume production yet there are materials available.
From every thing I have looked at on our unit, and what I have read, they are a very highly built unit, made to last a very long time. If your unit has been taken care of then I would have no reason not to purchase it.
We have not towed our yet, as the delivery date is a couple weeks down the road yet. If you have the truck for the job and it's a clean rig, I say you have nothing to worry about. There is a King of the Road owners club someone mentioned to me. Called Kings of the Road

I bought a 36 foot King of the Road used about 18 months ago and really like it. It is very solidly built with an aluminum box beam system. Be aware that they have a fairly heavy tongue weight. I have the catalog that came with mine and it did not show the tongue wt but the total gross weight on the rig is 19,000 with a dry wt on the hitch of 3200.
Cabinets and doors are all solid oak. I think you will like it.

Ours is 37' empty 14792 and GVWR 18000 could not find a hitch weight.
My new hitch is 20k with 5k pin wt.

You will have to select the year, then start putting in options.

[QUOTE=Kro1957;1526929]We just got a KOTR. The parent company, Chief Industries is still in business but they simply stopped production. I am told there is a small staff at the plant and there are no plans to resume production yet there are materials available.
I called the guy who gave me this information and came up with this phone number
1-866-400-9840.
This is the parent company of KOTR. There are still some parts and materials available. If they do not have it they will let you know where the supply is located. They do have my owners manual available for $25.
The plant was closed and sold in York NE. The plant that is open with Eagle Crest/Chief Industries (parent company) is located in Grand Island NE.
You can call them or write them at 2318 Kent Ave Grand Island NE 68803
They were very helpful with me over the phone.
