We looked at the K Z Sportsmen line again yesterday. We were kinda set on the 2004 2852p rear lounge they had on the lot untill we seen this 05 mid entry rear kitchen model they just got in.
All I can say is WOW! We have been afraid of the rear kitchen models because of the stories of things getting broke.
This Sportsmen in on shocks and should ride better.
The big window in the living area facing the awning side is great.
This allows us to see the fire ring from inside. The recliners felt good and the couch is full size so we can actualy lay on it and strech completly out.
The dealer is giving us a great price on it and a fair trade on our Four Winds.
I have searched all over the net to find out as much as I can about K-Z Sportsmen and it seems to be a good Company to deal with.
All we need to do is make the BIG DECSISION NOW.
Any comments on KZ would be helpful.
Thanks

Our dealership sells the KZ line and you could do a lot worse. They are a great company to do business with. I am in touch with Matt (warranty authorization) at times and have never had a problem they would not take care of.

WE have the model you originally looked at and really enjoy it.
I think whatever one you get you'll find the Sportsmen line is pretty well built.
Previously we had a rear kitchen fiver and added shocks ,they do help, also a little care in packing eliminates most problems with rear kitchens.

I spoke to the dealer again today and it seems we can order one with the colors my wife wants and he will keep his price good for us.
This will also allow me to get a couple options I am looking for.

Question,
1. The one on the lot does not have a heated enclosed underbelly, Is this normal for the Sportsmen line? If we order one I will have this included.

2. It appears the Sportsmen is a wood framed unit. What are the pros and cons on this matter?

3. By ordering I can also go for the GELCOAT option. any opinions on this?

I have been very hardpressed to find any negative posts on K-Z products as yet. Just want to do all my home work upfront this time.
Thanks
Paul

Somewhere in their brochure it will say the gelcoat adds 10% to the weight.Just something to be aware of.
I think they also have an aluminum frame option, but will be more expensive.
Ours is open on the bottom also, I think it's standard that way. Maybe an option to close it in.
I didn't think about it, but we don't use ours in cold weather.

We have had our Sportsman since June 2001. We have the ultra-lite, supposed to be an entry level trailer and have found that the trailer has held up well with the normal maintenance. We looked at many Lites and the quality of the KZ kept us coming back and buying. KZ did changes for us when we specialed ordered ours. We have the aluminum siding. Everything has pros and cons. Friends of ours has the Sportsman Ultra-lite 5th Wheel with the back Kitchen. I asked them if they had trouble with keeping their things in place and said that this has never been a problem. They also keep their coffee pot on the counter while traveling using that special mat. KZ did some big changes for them. I think on the whole you will find that most are pleased with their KZ products.

Thanks for all the replies.
We have ordered it and according to the salesmen we should see it in 3 to 5 weeks.
We did order the Gel-coat, The Heated Underbelly, and Slide out toppers (awnings)
With any kind of luck we will be camping in Feb.
