I am considering replacing the carpet and vinyl flooring in the living/kitchen area of our 5th wheel with a laminate type hardwood about 3/8 +/- inch thick. Has anyone had any experience at this project? Should it be glued? Most of the manufacturers say it should be just allowed to "float" to provided space for expansion or contraction I am not sure about that in a travel trailer. Also would the slide create a problem?

Thanks

You can purchase flooring with the sub-base already applied to flooring its just a matter of laying the floor and allowing for expansion.
A 1/4" is required around perimeter of floor and you will have to place a new mopboard if the one you have now can't cover 1/4" space they have for floor color and type.
As to a slide they have dress moldings for finishing edge of floors if you were to dress each edge with this molding it may work. There are different types of dress moldings you would have to match which would work best for you with type of slide you have so it will stand up to the slide traffic running over each floor layer. These type floors are floating floors and not glued down its what you would want anyhow because of the flexing 5th floor.
Take your time think it out and I tkink you will be proud of your job when completed. "007"

Stu, look carefully at the carpet that the slide rides on when it comes in. The carpet actually acts like a cushion for the slide to ride on when it retracts. If you put a hard floor there, the slide will likely scratch it up when it comes in/out. Something to consider.

Had to sweep the floor before retracting the slide to get up any dirt on wood floor, if not dirt or grit will imbed in floor. As long as you do that shouldn't pose a problem. Have seen floors laid at an angle to wall slide would travel over more floor boards and not one seam at a time. "007"
