Late model GM short bed pickups using gooseneck

I'm looking for feedback from any late model GM pickup users with the factory gooseneck/5th wheel package on the shorted bed that are currently towing 5th wheels?

I have a 2024 2500HD diesel with the factory gooseneck/5th wheel package on the shorted bed (6'8" I think) and plan to use a Reese goosebox. This factory option on the truck has the center hole offset to the rear of the axle centerline for what I understand is to help with cab clearance during turns. I'm looking to determine if I need an additional offset (with something like the Gen-Y offset ball) or if that factory gooseneck/5th wheel package (which has a small offset) is sufficient.

The Gen-Y offset ball is about $600 from eTrailer.com so not worried about the price. But I am concerned that if the factory offset is sufficient and I use an additional Gen-Y offset, I may be creating a new problem towards the rear (tailgate, weight too far back, etc.).

So to those folks with a late model GM pickup truck short bed (with the factory offset) that tow a 5th wheel with a gooseneck, is the factory offset sufficient for turning? Or have you had to make further accommodations for the cab clearance?

Any info is appreciated!!

That Grand Design 310GK may be a handful for your truck, as it will have a pin weight of 3,000 lbs or more. My camper is the same size and weight and my pin weight is 3,200 lbs when weighed on a trip.
You probably don't want the ball moved/offset too far behind the axle. I've never towed with a short bed, but from what I gather on this forum I would want an auto sliding hitch.
That's a nice camper you've picked out.
Thanks,

We have a 2024 GMC 2500 Diesel (6'8" bed) with the 5th wheel package and pull an E2W Tandara 386 MBOK with the 20K Reese Goose Box. Hubby didn't adjust the offset and we have had no issues turning. We turned the rig (trailer is 41'3") in our cul de sac with no issues. I watched to make sure the nose wouldn't hit the cab and clearance was fine. Happy camping and safe travels!

I had a 2017 3/4 ton GMC Sierra 6.0 gas with the short bed. I pulled a 2014 Coachmen Chaparral 327 RLKS using a standard husky hitch on the factory rails. At 13k loaded it was all the truck really wanted but turning and towing was fine. I did find it necessary to upgrade the camper to disc brakes to increase my level of stopping confidence. I believe any of the radiused front cap 5'ers would work fine.

My neighbor had a 2021 Denali crew cab with the standard bed. He towed the small Solitude using a B&W Companion hitch that mounted on the pucks. The Companion is adjustable fore/aft, and I don't know how his was set up. I believe the trailer came with a MORryde pin box. He used it this way a lot and with no complaints.

He also had a large Transfer Flow tank in the bed and kept his truck within the numbers.
