For many months, I've read the information posted on this site, and find it quite valuable and informative. With the wide range of needs that all the readers have, I haven't had to ask a direct question myself. So this will be my first.

The toilet in our fifth wheel just started leaking fresh water into the bowl. I believe it is because the seals (O-rings I suppose) are worn out, so that whenever there is pressure on the system, either city water or the water pump, as the fresh water leaks in the system just replenishes itself. It may take a couple of hours to completely fill the bowl. Which then just requires that you empty the bowl before it overflows. The toilet is a Thetford Corp, Aqua Magic, model GH.
So my question is. How does the plastic surround come off the toilet so that you can get to the valving to replace seals? Or is this a project beyond the capabilities of a fairly handy do-it-yourself-er?

Don't know about yours but a 1987 Layton I used to have had the same problem. All the necessary parts to replace was at the rear of the toilet and no further disassembly was necessary. Art

Give Thetford a call! I had a leak in mine and they sent me a valve repair kit, free. They were very nice to talk to. I saw it for about $25 at a rv store.

Hope this helps!!

Send a message via Yahoo to Rick A
I just had to fix an issue with my Thetford toilet. I contacted them via e-mail and they were very helpful. Check their website, www.thetford.com, they have parts lists and service manuals available online. If that does not help, then give them a call @ 1-800-521-3032.
