LED Bulbs "Super Bright" yada yada yada
Well, they are not "Super Bright". At least the ones I bought, 20x Super Bright DC12V T10 921 168 6000k White RV Interior 24SMD on ebay. These are the "paddle" style and inexpensive - 20 for $12 + free shipping. I needed to replace a couple of interior double ceiling fixture bulbs. The installed bulbs are column shaped with LEDs on all 4 sides. I went with the paddle shaped bulbs as I thought they would direct more light down. I was wrong. The column shape light up the whole lens/fixture. The original column shaped bulbs are much brighter. Very few of the vendors on ebay state how many lumen their bulbs put out. So, what have you found to be the brightest bulbs (shape, # of SMDS, manufacturer, vendor, etc)? I am new to RV LEDs. Last time we had a 5th wheel the interior bulbs were incandescent. Also, are they supposed to be that difficult to push into the socket? Is there a special insertion tool? The ones I bought were almost impossible to insert.

Humm, sorry can not help but LED lights for the most part are pretty good. LED Flashlights for example are good. I help a friend install a LED light in his house. It was bright but had 24 little yellow squares. My flashlight that I really like has a little yellow square.
Do you know what I am talking about with that little yellow square?

I bought the same ones last year, and yes they are a pain to insert in to the socket. My wife hates the bright white light, so next time I'll get a warm led.

Yes. Have being doing some research while waiting for sage advice from this forum. The "little yellow square" is a Surface Mount Device (SMD) a type of LED. I found a comparison chart of 10 different SMDs. They vary in size, power consumption and lumen output. SMD type 2835 and 3030 have the highest lumen output. If I can find vendors who identify the SMD type it would be easy to determine lumen output. I have also found that these bulbs are mostly automotive in nature, style T10. I am going to guess that those designated "backup" or "reverse" lights would be the brightest.

Hey Friz, I'm on your page, the LED replacements are a bugger to incert. Those tiny pins are really hard especially when your doing it upside down.
Personally I have this thing about the limited lighting in my unit. I'm a senior and want lots of light to work with. I also don't want lights glearing into my eye's . I wish the lights were 120 volt so there were more options. But it is what it is. I did learn that 'warm white' is the most pratcial. If you are a DYI'r you can be creative. I'm in the middle of making my own LED fixture for over my office desk where my computer is located. I found a two pack of LED conversion lamps (top hat's) used to convert ceiling lights in a home to LED's. Was a 10 dollar investment at Costco. I stripped one down and found 28 tiny LED's on a round plate ,they produce 75 watts. I made a fixture and mounted it over my computer desk .There's a wall cabinet over the desk and that made it easy for the installation. Then I found out it was wat too bright so I used a dimmer to cut down on the intensity. I'm loving the new bright area.

On my girlfriend's 5th wheel we wanted to replace the lights with better LED. At first we thought the walls had various stains we couldn't clean but it turns out is was the LED light refracting through the prism in the plastic lens making the streaks. The fixtures originally had incandescent. I got new LED but they were exactly the same with the same yellow streaking. She ended up ordering complete new fixtures with the LED installed in them. Got one to start to check it out, liked it and ordered more. If interested I'll check with her to see where she found them but if I had to guess it was Amazon.

It's been a couple of years since I converted all my lights to LED but I do remember it took some experimenting. I found them cheap enough that I would order one or two to try them out before buying enough to do the job. If I remember right the more little yellow squares the brighter the bulb. For the ceiling lights I went with the highest LED count I could find that would still fit in the fixture. After 2 years they are all still working and I bought the cheap stuff. We are pleased with the light they put out.

Same here, they cast weird shadows on the walls. I'm looking for some clear lens to replace them with.

That's why she bought all new light fixtures. They were not expensive and we couldn't find replacement lens for these. The yellow streaks on the white comforter she put on the bed drove her crazy. The were easy to install.

My new TT has all led lights in it and they are bright. Made me think hmm, shoulda put led's in the old one. But I gotta ask, why are you messing with difficult bulbs trying to work them into the old fixtures? It's probably easier to replace the whole thing.
Just one example, they're all over Amazon

The ones I bought would only work if you inserted them in the correct direction. I did do enough prior research to know that in order to match the light color of a standard bulb you have to get 2700k warm white, anything else is to "white" and I can't stand it. I can buy three - six of the ebay bulbs for the price of 1 "quality" LED so I'll stick with the chinese knockoffs.

They call those COB LED lights.
I just looked that up with way too much difficulty.
COB means Chip On Board.

I won't be running the cheap chinese crap anymore after experiencing 2 small bulb fires. A lot of them are designed to run at 12V only despite being labelled "RV". The lumen output was never any better than the incandescent they replaced, either.
Feed them 13-14V and they don't play well.
I will gladly pay more for quality/safety from M4 products, cabinbright or superbriteLED
