Let’s talk Ford UTT Camera Pro Backup Assist System

My new Ford F-350 will be coming with the “Ford UTT Camera Pro Trailer Backup Assist” system. I admit I’d not call myself a trailer backer upper guy. I’m curious just how helpful this backup assist really is?

Can I literally do “ALL” backing procedures using it? Or does it have limitations I should know about?

My truck is to be built sometime this week and I should have it a couple weeks after that.

Hey Old-Biscuit, That was quick and excellent. Did I hear it correctly that once you have it going in the right direction. It will take over make adjustments to keep it going?

UTT

I have a 17 350DRW so no knob. But for something that costs as much as it does its not unreasonable to ask for the cameras to function at speeds above 5 MPH and be integrated with the turn signals. I'd go third party if I were to do it again. I also have found the Ford Mirrors to be excellent.

Hi guys, My question is. Is the backing a 100% manual operation by making adjustments to the control knob. Or does the system have navigation, where you point it in the right direction and it takes over from there?

My 2020 has the system as standard equipment and I have the back up camera. It comes with what I think I remember being called a yaw sensor that attaches to the pin to sense the direction of the turn. Backing the trailer is totally controlled by the knob, which is in your control. If you grab the steering wheel it will disengage. Navigation is not part of the process. I have tried using the system and it works pretty well but I've backed with mirrors for so many years that I forget to use it. I also have it set up for my bass boat but, again, I have tried it only a few times. I think I'll do some practicing with it next time I get them out.

I do wish the camera could be used as an observation camera while towing but it only works in reverse. Our Pinnacle came with a Furrion observation camera so I use it. My honest opinion of the Ford system is somewhere between a kind of neat idea to maybe helpful for some but not much for me.
