Looking 5th wheel bed cover with full bed access and no blocked views
Hi all,
I have a F350 short bed.
I had another post going originally looking for tonneau + tool box recommendations. I was really liking the look of the cannister Retrax / Roll-n-lock covers.
However, with truck bed space at a premium, I've decided against a canister type of cover and a tool box. I'd like to have full bed access and full view of the 5th wheel hitch with some kind of awesome cover. I will be storing a generator in the front with an extra 20lb propane bottle between the hitch and front of the cab.
I think the priorities would be:
#1 - full bed access
#2 - full view of the 5th wheel hitch when backing up
#3 - lockable preferred. I can chain the generator to the bed if needed
Thanks for the suggestions!

Given your parameters, I'd check out the UnderCover Ultra Flex. I had one before I purchased my Retrax and loved it. The only issue was it was a little too close to the hitch head unless I folded it all the way up against the back window (blocking view).
I have a GM short bed, though, and I recall there was at least one Ford short bed owner here who had the same cover and professed it wasn't an issue on the Ford, i.e., he folded it 2/3 or 3/4 of the way and towed fine with no hitch head interference. BakFlip makes a similar cover too.

If you are ok with a soft cover, I use the Truxedo Duece 2. It Rolls up, but also allows you to flip back from the bulkhead to get at stuff up front. It's great if you have an Aux tank mounted against the bulkhead.

My American Roll tonneau cover is awesome and meets your criteria.

We got a new F350 and needed a cover that was flush, to maximize the clearance to my bed rail. We got the Bak Revolver X4 from etrailer. The top is rigid, but rolls up out of the way. It is working well so far.

I've had the X2 version for 5 plus years on 2 different trucks. It still looks great and even with my long bed I can see over it with it rolled up against my rear window. It is rigid so while nothing is totally tamper proof it is pretty secure with my locked tailgate. It's also fairly water proof.
