Maxxair power vent

So I can open the Maxxair roof vent and it opens fine and stays open. But, when I turn on the fan it closes after a few seconds. I opened the vent and cleaned the rain sensor with a dry paper towel. Decided to clean it a bit better with damp paper towel. As soon as I started wiping rain sensor with wet paper towel the vent closed. So I think maybe rain sensor is ok? Tried again after cleaning rain sensor with no change. Still closes when fan is turned on. Any advice on a fix?

Mine started randomly beeping and then closing. Once it closed, it wouldn’t reset unless we turned the battery disconnect on and off. I have been waiting 9 weeks for a new motherboard.

So I tried the battery disconnect off and back on again. Now neither fan will turn nor the vents open.

And now the other fan works again and the bad fan is doing what it was doing before I shut off disconnect and turned it back on.

I would look for loose wiring as an issue in the fan circuit. If the ceiling fan dome opens and stays up when the fan is not running. But will close as soon as the fan starts to run it might be vibration that is causing a wire to move, signaling the dome to close. You can remove the plastic shroud inside to access the wiring.

Also, you can turn off the rain sensor on the panel were the motor mounts. At least on my fantastic fan I can shut off the rain sensor circuit at this panel.

Call them, they walked me through trouble shooting, identified the problem and arranged to send parts.

Call MaxxFan and troubleshoot with them, but it sounds like it might be the circuit board. That's easy to replace. Ours failed just under 2 years, so was replaced through their warranty.

My Fan turns on but the dome will not open. I thought maybe it was just stuck from not having been used in a while so I went on the roof to see if I could help it open when my wife turned it on. Didn't want to pull up on it too hard but it didn't open. Any ideas?
