I am towing 15,500lbs and get 10mpg on with a F-450 with 4.30 gears. Best was 11.2 with a tailwind. Worse was 9 into a head wind.

I remember the strong tail wind. It made the whole trip super easy. Gotta love a tail wind

I have 3.55 gears and live out west up and down highways. This tank was unloaded and was 16.7. My last loaded tank with 15,800 load was 11.2 on a 400 mile trip.

Yup that's about right 1800 rpm is the magic number. 10.5 to 12.0

I have a 2011 6.7 ford and get about 11.5 mpg with a montana with a gvw of 1300 lbs. I have 3.31 gears. While heading to California 2 years ago we had 40 mph headwinds and the tuck said 4.5 mpg. I thought the pickup was wrong until I fueled up and did the math and the computer was right. I got 7.6 mpg on that tank of fuel so the computer was right at 4.5 mpg for that particular point of the journey.

Just drove 483 miles towing my empty car trailer and this is the milage I got coming from NC to PA

You would have way more than 241 miles left on the over half full tank of fuel you have if you were actually getting that mileage.

We went through this before and the numbers worked out with a fill up. I will not be filling up till I get back down to VA as the fuel up here is $2.91 and down there it is $2.29 near my house across the boarder in VA it is $2.23 yesterday

My F250 6.7 will not get anywhere close to that, empty. The best it's ever done on flat road is 17.5.

It's easy, fill up, head for the flatest highway you can find and get to 65 mph, now the trick, reset your gauge! Stay on cruise control for a couple hundred miles and then take pic of amazing mpg's.

I just did 23.4 over a ~95 mile round trip according to my ScanGauge* which is right on with hand calculations. Empty truck, local interstate speed (65-70mph). The Ford OEM dash Lie-O-Meter is close at best, way off either way, not unusual and currently reading 15.3 but that's over several tanks and, unfortunately, mostly town driving.

Whatever it is, still a heluva lot better then the '06 V10 F350 that preceded it or any of the other gassers before that F350. I didn't buy it for fuel mileage. It was purchased to pull our 5er a lot easier then the V10.

Good fuel mileage is just a benefit though there are lots of other 'things' that can cost bucks and occasionally do fail and need to be added on make thinking about decent mpg pointless. Walmart's ~5 buck per gallon Peak DEF needs to be calculated into your mpg along with 100+ dollar oil changes vs $30, 150 dollar fuel filter changes vs $15 and 40 gallons of coolant that need changing as well at about $250 every 75-100,000 miles.
