I'm pulling 16K. Flat terrain, no headwinds and I'm getting 10.5, but my truck only has 6500 miles. I'm hoping that will get a little better the more it gets broken in. Of course a good RVing friend told me, don't get into the RV game if you want good fuel mileage.

I can't really help a ton with specific question since I have a duramax but I will say you will probably see a couple mpg variance depending on the terrain you're towing on and even wind direction. I see that when towing mine. Hills and/or a headwind can knock 2 mpg off of mine.

I have gotten from 10 to 12.5 towing my 10K fiver depending on terrain and speed. The best mileage has been at 62 mph and the worst by bumping to 65. Headwinds really put a dent in mileage as well.

Good info. I just wanted to know if I was in the ballpark with 11 mpg. I was towing a variety of terrain up/down/flat.

Does the tow/haul mode affect mileage?

I got 8.2 MPG with over 17K miles, towing a 18K toyhauler with my 2013 DRW. Tracked towing miles separately from non-towing, with Fuelly.com.

2016 srw 3.55's, pulling 16k, mixed terrain I average 10.8 mpg, in the mountains (8%) I drop to 9.5, I stay between 68-72 when on the highway about 55-65 when in the mountains.

While I've gotten as high as 13.4 pulling our 12K fiver, it is normally in the 11.4-12 mpg. Hills, wind and even temps have a bit of a bearing. I seldom use Tow/Haul as I prefer to use the manual shift feature and shift gently. The sudden downshifts, sometimes 2-3 gears worth and the 3500 or so RPM scream, up from the usual 1700 just, to me, isn't good for a transmission and the rest of the driveline. Yes, I know, it's designed for that but I'm an old hand at driving ... well, old anyhow. The mileage does seem to suffer a tiny bit with too many shift changes trying to maintain a speed in T/H

I did 11 on my last trip.

Seems like a good point. 9-12mpg. Not great but seems consistant. My dad gets 7-9mpg with his V10 with a 4000lb camper on it.

"Does it really matter..." Rv'ing cost 50k for truck - 50 k for rv - 50 k for accessories

and there are too many variables for how much YOU will get...

I drive a lot faster than you and I'm in the mountains ...
I drive slower than you and on flat ground ...
I have my tires aired up to 100 psi each ....
my engine has 100k miles...
my engine has 4k miles...
my tranny is a manual 4 speed...
my tranny is an auto 8 speed...
my rv is 14 foot tall and weighs 20k lbs...
my rv is 4 foot tall and weighs 600 lbs...
6 to 12 towing is what you will get overall...
