Montana water heater

Todays tale from the tool box.
Friends asked me to check water heater not heating on electric.
Atwood GC10A- 4E
Lots of charred crap looks like the relay went up.
I found out later they smelt something the other day.
Breaker was still on.
This poc was shoe horned under a closet in the bathroom. ( Not at all planned for my 63 broad shouldered body)
Another wow moment!!!Click image for larger version

What were those wires connected to? The relay? Man, that could have been bad.
