Most Likely To Wear First

I am currently in a 1999 Lance Camper I bought about four years ago and plan to upgrade to a 5ver after the first of the year. I have been fortunate that my camper was well taken care of and the only repair I have had to do was the mother board in the refrigerator/freezer. Because I am looking for a used 5ver it will be helpful to know what is most likely to wear out first on one so I can estimate how much I may have to put into it in the first two years. That will effect how much I am willing to pay for a used unit under 10 years old.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The first thing that went out on mine was the A/C just this past summer. All I had to do is put in a new circuit board and thermostat in. Fixed it myself. That was on my 2008 Big Country that I purchased new. That was the only problem I have had since new. Also you may want to look at the condition of the rubber roof. Depending on the condition you may want to put that in your budget too.

hmm...thats like asking what will wear out first on a truck.
There simply isn't any way to know what will wear out first on any type of vehicle.

In general, what gets used the most will wear out sooner. Both A/C units and refers are high on the list of failures in the RV industry.

Another thought that came to mind is tires, tire, tires!! Make sure you get good tires on it if it doesn't already. Look at the the date codes on the tires. Anything over five years old should be replaced.

Tires, suspension bushings, brakes, AC, refer, carpet.

If it is more than about five years old. you will need to replace the tires, even if they do not appear to be worn.

Thanks to all. I'm thinking I may need a cushion around $1500.00 to $2000.00.
