Moving a 5th wheel with a slide out open

I need to push my 5th wheel back about 10 feet and 1 foot to the right - to be able to better protect them from people walking across my lot and to provide more protection from the cold. Is it ok to move the trailer this short distance without pushing the slide out in?

It would be best to put slide in before moving your FW. Having to raise/lower the front to hook up with slide extended not the best idea. Unless on level ground, the frame will twist/flex a little also, that could affect extended slide.

However, in an actual needed emergency, moving that small amount may not cause any problems.

You’d have to have a very poorly constructed trailer if it couldn’t tolerate being moved with the slide outs extended. I have no problem moving mine with the slides extended.

Is it really that hard to pull in the slides?

The factories and dealers do it all the time.

The damage on slides come from moving them while not level. Being in or out while moving the rig shouldn't have any effect on one.
