Need a tire mask for painting white wheels
Anyone know where I can purchase such an item?
Ive seen demos on youtube, and have an email out to tiremask.com.
But would like some other sources if possible.
Thanx

Cut out a thin piece of cardboard to match 1/3rd to 1/2 the wheel. Move it around the edge of the wheel as you paint

Need a tire mask for painting white wheels
Buy a stack of index cards and stuff them between the lip of the rim and tire. Works great and easiest setup I've tried.

Have you considered using plastidip instead of paint? It doesn't stick to tires very well, supposedly. And with this add-on, it appears to come right off. The video demonstration is amazing.

I've not actually used this on wheels, except for a trial run on a spare wheel. The coverage was so good that I ordered some to attempt to plastidip my class C wheels so I can ditch the ridiculous chrome simulators. Anyway, I thought it was worth a try, and then I can easily peel it off when I figure out that I screwed it up.

The best paint I've found for painting wheel rims is high temperature engine paint. Not a huge selection of colors but for sure white and black. Basic enamel covers pretty well but over time gets sandblasted and rock chipped. Engine paint seems to hold up great. Nothing more than blue painter tape tucked in under the rim to mask.

masking tape and newspaper will work, even better than blue tape is the paint masking tape sold at auto stores, holds up better under the solvents used in spray paint. back in the day when I painted vehicles I used Napa #306 and #315 don't have a clue if they still make and sell it under those sku's

If you have some file cabinet file holders, those work well. You can cut a radius in them to fit the wheel.

I use a deck of cheap playing cards when I do wheels with tires. I air them down and push on the sidewall and slip card between rim and tire. Works like a charm.

I painted my motorhome wheels with plastidip this weekend. The method shown in the dipyourcar link worked very well if you follow the instructions. Obviously, that only works if you use plastidip instead of conventional paint.
