Another one that bought the normal hitch. Ride was horrible. Bought the MorRyde rubber kingpin - helped much, but still lost my kingpin framing within one year. Then I learned about the air hitch. Wow, what a difference. I bought the Air Safe hitch with the Binkley head. That thing is built like the over the road truck hitches and when it locks, it locks. Protects the framing of the rig, much better ride in the truck and tight hookup. What more do you want?
Hey, I still do the test pull with the jacks off the ground about an inch or so. That checks both the hook up and brakes - - just takes a minute to be sure. Worth it. Happy trails,

I watched the video and it looks impressive.

I'm pretty happy with mine, I've watched it while towing and I didn't see it flexing or moving at all and even though it's light enough to handle it's quite heavy for a few tubes and a mount meaning it's heavy duty stuff.

Plus with the adapter block on the pin it's offset about three inches rearward, with my short bed truck I can jack knife it at will.

Be sure to do a bolt torque check, my block kept coming lose. Turns out that the bolts were lubed by someone so they kept working loose. I cleaned them, put a little blue Loctite on and they haven't failed a torque check since. According to Andersen the bolts aren't supposed to have lube so I'm guessing the tech that installed it did.

Bob, I just purchased an Air Ride hitch. Do you grease or use a Teflon disk? Haven't used it yet.

Yes I do, but it must be a used one. There is no slop in the Binkley head so a new, fat disk will make it almost impossible to get the pin into the jaws. I find one of my old ones works fine. And to show how snug it is, that same disk has been on now for 10 years with lots of miles. I don't know if you have that Binkley - - if not, you could probably use a new disk with no problem. Luv that Binkley - - solid and tight hookup. Luv the hitch - - smooth and no herky/jerky. I do grease the pin quite often. I do not want wear and get sloppy like the regular heads.

No, my fifth wheel has the newer styling corners. The Ford also has a little longer bed than the competition and it gives me more degrees of turn.

So far, we've not needed a slider hitch. They're a pretty serious investment.

I can't say the exact size but l had one on my heartland and got a thicker one with my new trl which l swaped before turning it in so the pin would be low enough to hitch properly.

I have the brinkley head on my hitch. We use the thicker plastic disc. Hooks up easily. There is a thinner disc on the market also if someone needs it.

Hensley makes a 1/8" thick disk. Not cheap. Works well with a B&W.

I had a 9 in dia disc on our previous unit. The pin plate broke after 10 years of use. Never used or missed the plate since..my trailer hooks up easier and guaranteed to lock properly every time.
Moved a friend trailer last summer and we dropped the trailer on my truck bed. No damage but got mad and through his plate away. And told him it was not my favorite option.

The only draw back is grease. I don't know why the man don't put teflon on thier fifth wheels like on the 18 wheeler 5th wheels.
