It always seems that smaller seems like a great idea until you're in it for a bit, then it's really too small for what you really were wanting. Give yourselves a little bit extra room than what you're expecting and you'll be glad you did. I have liked the 34', it's not hard to maneuver, not hard to pull down the road, not as hard to find RV space for in parks as some of the large RV's, but still has space to be comfortable and have room to move for a group of people.

Our toy hauler is only 30' but the Happie Jack queen bunks plus our queen in the front makes for a lot of room for company/family. Don't have to haul toys to enjoy the benefits of a lot of room in a smaller package.

Our 2nd rig was a 29-foot Laredo. It was a great rig for the weekends, but for us, on a 2-week vacation, it was small.
It was the 2 of us, baby grandson and 2 Dachshunds. Our daughter would go sometimes.

Hi I don't know exactly how to maneuver on this site, I too am still new to trying to learn my way around talking to other 5th wheel owners. Certainly, thanks for helping me, as I too, am going to get one next week but was struggling likewise, knowing I like space, but was wondering which way to go, and your response was very helpful for me. I would like to add, that it was a while back when I use to have a Class A, as I only had a little driving experience in less than a month with that one before I moved out of state and had a friend drive it to me, when it arrived it was in need of major repair. Needless to say, there was all sorts of trouble, brakes, transmission...and so I had it for a short spell, never really had the chance to get the desired, experience before it was needing repairs, and it sat at various shops and sat awaiting repairs. I got so disappointed with how I was being mishandled, and the lack of knowledge being a first time RVer I know I was taken advantage of, but oh well, it hurt, but I am over it now, it didn't cost a lot, but still I had paid for it, I just couldn't drive three vehicles out of state by myself. I'm in a better position now. At least I think so. Back then, I couldn't find anyone to fix the rig. Anyway, now, I want to try RVing again. This time, I am considering the 5th wheel. And so, I have educated myself a lot more on what to expect using Youtube. But I have a serious question. I would like some answers on how to proceed, since I'm looking to get this 5th wheel. My question is, is there a like good company, most rving owners recommend for an insurance company for these 5th wheels, something that is more well rated and how to you get best coverage without going broke, I mean I am clueless on this. I have a friend of mine who has fleet of trucks and use progressive but says they are expensive. Do I need to look at RV specifically or what? Please help, about to take the plunge again. I could add it on my insurance or start with something new. Looking for answers.... Thanks.

Newer fifth wheel trailers are extremely easy / fast to unhook, auto level and extend slides and hook-up utilities. Far easier / faster than a trailer and no less effort than a motorhome, especially if you tow a toad. Same with the reverse. Size does not make a difference.

insurance
My TT or fifth wheel insurance goes on my homeowners insurance policy and is not very expensive. I think it runs about $120.00 a year for full coverage. One thing I will mention to you about a 5th wheel is that you should have a minimum of a 3/4 ton truck for hauling it. You don't want to overload your towing vehicle by having it be to light.

The 5th wheel you are looking at is really in one ton SRW territory.

We looked at the new 2025 cougar 290RLS. They really changed the layout. Before it was very nice having the washer/dryer in the kitchen pantry and now it is back up in the front of the coach. Some other changes they put in a smaller shower instead of the larger one with a seat. So, I guess what we plan to do at this point is look for an older model with the layout we liked.

We looked at the cougar we ended up buying an Alliance Avenue 32RLS 34'11" they have 332RL adds 3ft if you want more space. Maybe it's a blessing and you find a better cougar or something better for you. Best of luck. See you on the Road!

Nice picture of the Alliance, my wife would never go for something like that, way to white, and clean looking. She would be after me all the time to clean things up. Not the way I roll.

Newer 5th wheel to us
Today we looked at a 2018 Jayco Eagle 30.5CKTS. It fits the parameters as far as my truck being able to tow and handle the 5th wheel. I liked everything except the 2.3 round shower, which I could get by with. My wife is so doggone picky about everything it's so hard to tell if she likes a trailer or not. I put this one on the plus list. Thursday we are going up to look at some more. Wish me luck. One is a 2016 Cougar that looks great, the furniture is just a tad worn.
