Slightly more is correct, in actual difference. The paper/sticker difference is only due to the class 2/class 3 GVWR rating assigned by the DOT 10,000/14,000.

Our 34RLR Alpenlite 5er is very much a little condo. It partys 6, feeds 4, and sleeps 2.
On the rare occasion that we have overnighting guests they have to make do on the somewhat uncomfortable foldout sofa. We did not buy it with guests in mind.
It has been 17 years, well over 2500 nights travelling and guests with us a total of less than 28 days. We are not the Four Seasons on wheels.

I really like this size as it is only a foot bigger than our current travel trailer. I am getting too old for all the hooking up and setting up the jacks, then leveling the trailer. its more work than my back can handle. My wife seems to think we only need a little 5th wheel. I say what happens when we have people stay, it will be cramped. and I like room. Please let me know your experiences with sizes. We had a beautiful 40 foot Keystone on our lake lot that got totaled from a severe storm.

Hi m1arifle-
First, Welcome to the site where opinions and information are abundant and flow freely!
So, I currently have a 2016 Keystone Cougar 38' 5th wheel. We replaced a 30' Jayco travel trailer and are happy with our choice BUT there are several things to consider;
1) We didn't think about this when we bought ours but many State campgrounds cannot accommodate RV's larger than 35', sometimes not even 30'. We have pretty much limited ourselves to RV resorts but that's not a bad thing!
2) Even if you do go smaller, try to find a model with slides on both sides and the bedroom, it makes a huge difference!
3) If this is going to stay in one place for months at a time, I would absolutely go bigger. I had to work remotely for a year and I can tell you the extra space makes a huge difference. I have an island in the kitchen which is a fantastic feature for extra space when cooking.
4) Last, storage in the larger RV's is a big plus in my book. I don't think you can have too much storage.
Good Luck on your purchase and safe travels!

Depends. Mine has the HD tow package with 5th wheel pucks factory installed.
When researching, I found that my 250 isn't any different than a 350.
Same engine, same axle (3.55) and I have four leaf springs just like the 350. Normal 250 only has 3 leaf springs. 30,000 tow capacity and 2740 lb cargo capacity.
Grated, it would not be enough for a larger/heavier 5er, but for my Eagle 319, it fits the bill perfect.
Happy Camping!!

The 250 and 350 are almost identical except for one thing, you have to order the 250 with rear overload springs whereas the 350 comes with them standard. If buying a 4x4, there are different choices for the front suspension between the 250 and 350.I found this out when I ordered my 250 and wished I had added the overloads.
Safe Travels and Happy Holidays!

I wouldn't go for a travel trailer for anything anymore. the 5th wheel has way more storage especially inside which is a benefit if it is going to be parked and also if you are moving around. the only disision would be size in my opinion

Helen and I are really happy with the 2020 Grand Design 303RLS we were able to find. She likes everything about it, me I don't care for the kitchen sink (not divided) and the corner shower. Those are minimal gripes I can live with. I love all the storage. The auto leveling is amazing and it will recall to the level for the truck to back into the 5th wheel hitch. Winterizing is a breeze, as all the control are located on one panel. It has heated pads for cold weather camping, to keep them from freezing, and is well insulated.

Make sure you have water in the tanks before turning on the tank heating pads. It is possible to damage the holding tanks without water in the tanks.

hamm2018 - thank you for that information. I will remember that. I may even post a note on the inside of the door where the controls are.

Damon - I have a 2021 Ford F250 with the towing package and when we got the new 5th wheel I was rather pleased with the average MPG. I have the 7.3 L Godzilla motor in this truck, it is what my son recommended I get. I have averaged almost 13 MPG pulling the 5th wheel. I don't know how that compares to diesel motors, but I am pleased so far.

13 mpg towing a 12,000 lb 5th wheel?? Maybe I need to get one of those.
I have a similar size 5th wheel and my previous 2016 Ram 6.4 gas Hemi averaged 7.5 mpg, and my current 2018 Ram Cummins averages about 9.3 towing at 62-65 mph. My best ever has been in the 11s.

I don't drive over 65mph and sometimes I will take the older 2 lane hwy.'s where portions are 55mph and portions are 65 mph. I like the old 2 lane hwy. sometimes because of the scenery.
