New truck

Just traded the 2020 F350 SRW for a long bed dually 2021. Was using a pull rite hitch with the short bed. Iím thinking I would like to do something different now that I have the long bed. Obviously turning radius without hitting cab is my biggest concern. If you have a set up you like, I would much appreciate your input. Also, the king pin on the 5er has the flat metel welded right behind the pin for the pull rite hitch. Is this something that needs replaced or can I just cut the welds and remove the plate. Appears it was added to a standard mor ryde hitch that was on the RV when I purchased it. Thanks for your help!

I had a convetional 5th wheel hitch and a standard 8' bed when I had a dually. I had the puck system (Factory 5th wheel prep package). With an standard bed you do not need to worry about hitting the cab.

My 5th wheel had a moryde pin box which eliminated 95% of any chucking.

I had a 2012 F-450 and used a 25,000lb Reese Elite 5th wheel hitch for my 16,000lb GVWR 5th wheel.

Cut the lockout off and grind it smooth. I recommend a slick disk instead of grease on the pinbox. As for a hitch my go to is a B&W.

Brand new dually and a really nice fifth wheel; you might want to treat yourself to a Trailer Saver air hitch and a comfortable tow.

Oh, yeah, what he said.

I love my B&W Companion hitch. I can take it out of the bed and have the full use of the bed of the truck.

Back to morning brew . . .

On our morryde kingpin for our pullrite auto slider that welded block is on a plate that mounts to the 4 bolts 2 in front and 2 in back. Take another look at your kingpin. Yours may be the same. It sure looks the same.
If so you just undo the 4 bolts and remove that plate. Put the bolts back in and torque to morryde spec..you are back to a standard morryde king pin

Thank you !

All good input. Great to have everyone weigh in I think I will go with the B&W. I am going to pull that plate off of the hitch and see what is up. If needed I think I will just cut it off and grind it smooth. Yes, a disc and not grease for sure.
Thanks again!

Hey roadrunner II

Thanks for the info on the plate. Just like you said, I removed the four bolts , the bottom plate just fell off. Put the bolts back in and good to go !

the morryde pinbox works well. I would suggest a Hensley BD5. its got air bags to make the ride smoother in the truck and trailer. I would question if the welding has damaged the rubber in the morryde pinbox and pin. I have not had one apart but I would suggest you take yours apart to see if the welding and grinding could burn the rubber free from the plate that its bonded to .

Glad to help! Just make sure you torqued the bolts back up. I dunno the spec but a note or call to morryde will get you the info.

Ditto....... Have the B&W slider (have a short bed) and Moryde pin box. Great combination. Smooth ride. A little more $ but like the robustness of the B&W.

I also have the B&W companion for factory pucks and a Morryde pin box and it rides great and comes out easily in under 2 minutes.
