Newbie Needs Advice

Hello out there! I hope I'm connecting with a group of experienced souls who can help me.
I'm totally new to Rv'ing and to this site. (I might be in the wrong place to post this question, so please bear with me.)

We're desperately in need of advice ... We are looking for an under 30' 5th wheel for extended trips, both off road and on. Living in CO we have plenty of locations to do both. And we want to have something that is suitable for longer trips, Alaska, for instance.
My question - we're looking for a quality unit with the fewest "issues". We've narrowed it down to the Fox Mountain 235RLS or the Grand Design Reflection 260RD. We love the interior look and layout of the Grand Design unit, but are very concerned over a wealth of negative reviews. The Fox Mountain seems to be a better quality product but the interior colors and finishes are not really our taste. All feedback on the pros and cons of these 2 companies and models would be hugely appreciated!
I thank you all in advance.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

I'm not familiar with those rigs so can't advise you on that!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

If you can, take a look at the line from ORV. They are sister company to Fox.

We have a 26RLS that is a great size for the 3 of us and almost all federal and state campgrounds. Very few issues, we took care of those ourselves.

Beefy construction and 4 season built.

Both are nice units. Both would be good choices if you are towing with a 3/4 ton truck. If you plan to tow with a one ton, take a look at the Arctic Fox 27-5 or the ORV line. I don't know about the GD, but the FM is 8' wide while the others are 8.5'. That 1/2 foot does increase the livability. The GD spends its build money on finish appearance and glitz. The FM spends its build money on structural components you can't see. IMHO the Northwood/ORV units would be what I would buy.

The Arctic Fox and ORV are built better than a Grand Design. Actually there is less and less special about Grand Design. They are now owned by Winnebago who builds better than average trailers from Indiana but no where near as good as Arctic Fox or ORV.
