I gotta say...I just put a 8' Werner fiberglass step ladder in the bed of my truck and shut the tailgate. No red flag needed!!!

The one bad thing about the 8' bed...is all the years I lived without one.

I have had my 5th wheel a few times at an extreme angle to wiggle it where I wanted it.

I am sure I am the kind of guy that would crunch the cab so I did not hesitate to just but the long bed truck.

No one caught what op considering towing? 2003 Teton. It is a wide body, flat front and very heavy. No way short bed truck. He needs at least 60 inches from center of hitch pin to back of cab.

I have owned 14 trucks only one short bed. I do remodeling and it was a pain. Siding comes in 12 or 12 1/2 foot boxes so if I needed to run to the supplier to get a box to finish a job, I had to support the extra hanging past the tailgate. Longer lumber? Forget it.

Then I started towing a 5er with a slider hitch. Of course going to Florida I pull into a station and think I have enough turning radius and crunch my cab corner.

Two long beds later I am so much more relaxed.... Plus dual rest wheels.

What I gathered from OP's post was, he knows it was better to get an 8' bed, but, he is just getting info on limitation differences.

Just my thought.
