Odd question - hard wired surge protector

I have an AF 29-5T and the power wires are nicely covered or not accessible for a person in my physical condition.

Can I install the protector on the actual power cord and secure it in the power cord cubby ? Is there a reason it has to be beside the fuse box ?

Thanks

Yes you can.

Some put them near the breaker box to be wired after a ATS on generator equipped RVs, but its not critical. It would be a rare occasion for a surge from a generator. They have protections from that built in.

Thank you.

No on-board gen..in fact, leaving the gen home next trip.

I have never fully extended my power cord..and I carry an extension just in case.

Appreciate the response.
