A 2001 trailer is not al that old if it was built decent in the first place and has had the proper care. There are lots of 20 year old plus trailers on the road.

As noted, pay attention to the running gear. Also roof maintenance and leaks will make a deal as well.

I think everyone ese has pretty well covered the issues. I made a mistake of purchasing a used early 06 37Ft Heartland BH. Really looked good, but ended up with spring and frame issues. Replaced springs, shackles, and went to wet bolts for the axles. Now the frame flex issues, I think in my case are largely due to the large size and weight. We're unhappy, and have decided to make the unit a permenant site and retain as a summer home. this unit has a Lippert frame, as I believe so does the Montana, so do a lot of reading on the Montana forum and a lot of inspection prior to purchase. You may be ok with a 30 ft unit.

You can figure a few 1000's on the price if they do it, when I was at the dealership one that size would be in the 5000 range and the other member is correct on the cost of material at $600 . the price I use is 100 per foot that includes the width also complete labor, materials and sheeting,,,,hope this helps on cost estimate

I really appreciate all the excellent advice. We are soaking it all in. Can't wait to nail something down. We will let you know which way we go on this RV shopping adventure. We are looking for a very good price and are not in a hurry. Perhaps after labor day weekend, when the camping season winds down here in Michigan, we can find a special deal.

The fall of the year is great for looking, people are looking to pull them out of the rv parks and don't want to take them home.
