Thats exactly what i said in my original post. As soon as the warranty is up, ditch that crap. Egr will kill your mileage and longevity.

Gm diesel trucks only come with 3.73 gears.

Nice looking truck. Can't wait to see what's behind it!

Nice looking truck, a GM truck was very seriously considered when we bought the Ram. Enjoy your new vehicle it will serve you well.

Congrats on the new Duramax. I took delivery of my new 2018 in February. I love it. Its my 3rd Duramax.
Do yourself as well as your new fiver favor and invest in a good air hitch. That's another subject. However, I'm completely sold on the fact that they greatly cushion the shock between the truck and frame of the fiver.
Enjoy and happy shopping.

Great truck. I have over a half million miles on 3 Duramaxes. Love the Allison as well it is the reason I would never consider a Ram. As said earlier 3:73 is the only rear end ratio available which is why GM has the lower (albeit more realistic) 24k top towing weight.

Forget worrying about deletes. The L5P Duramax is NOT tuneable. While you will have to drive it stock GM did give you 450 HP to keep you smiling. The upside is the L5P DOES NOT use the Bosch CP4 pump or injectors and the new system is supposed to be much better now. I pull a 16k triple axle with my LTZ CC DRW and she pulls like a dream. We climbed 7 and 8% grades in July 95 degrees rolling 55-60mph and never saw tranny temps above 195- and that’s without the new cold air intake in the hood.

Nice looking truck ! Although ours is "only" a 2500, Its the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. We tend to keep vehicles a long time, (don't like payments) , it pulls our 'little' 5vr like a dream ! And I pull doubles at work 100K miles a year. I think you will like it !!!! I sure like my Chevy,,, this from a forever till now Mopar guy... Monkey

Oh by the way, not sure on yours , but my 15 model I had to click some buttons to turn on things on the D I C so I could read trans temp and others. No biggy...

Don't think it will happen. GM invested millions in the lockout protection. They (the tuners) have already given up and started selling complete aftermarket ECUs that completely take you off the GM realm. Once you go that route you are on your own for everything electronic.

But I guess never say never...

Ya, i did some looking into it and looks like you are correct. Well, once warranty runs out you are on your own anyway. I know it isnt nearly as complex but there are reputable companies been making ecus for harleys for years. I dont think id be a guinea pig but if it were proven i wouldnt be afraid of one.

Nice! I have a 24' motorhome, but we are starting to think of fulltiming in a 5th wheel toy hauler in a few years, so your truck search is helping me figure out what I will need as well. It is a long way off, but I see with careful search and patience, it may actually be possible.

Having gone thru some Fords with emissions deleted, and now having a '17--no need to touch anything, plenty of go/pull without thinking about pulling emissions off. Should be same for GM/Ram.
Enjoy it like it is--
