PSA: Watch out for flood damaged rigs

...coming up for sale in Southwest Florida. I was *this close* to buying a 5th wheel, which showed well, but when the inspector started crawling around under there he found thick, flaking rust on some of the beams. Also noticed there used to be a generator under there, but that had been removed. The service manager started digging and eventually concluded it had been sitting in salt water.

We've had two flood events in the last few years, the most recent not associated with much wind (at the time). In my neighborhood we were crotch deep in salt water. Devastating to the folks in park models. The 5th wheels looked OK after the storm but all of em had their basements flooded.

Found two in one week, actually. Today I was looking at a rig, "surely that's not flex-seal I see up there on that roof" Oh yeah I was MMOB when a limb fell on it so we put some caulk on there and some flex seal, shoot you can make a boat outa that stuff!

Florida is not a civilized place. It may look civilized, but it is not. Always get em inspected.
