Queen bed to king size change

Has anybody with a queen size bed changed it to a king? If so, how much trouble and money is needed for the conversion?

Thanks.

You might look up olympic queen size mattress. It is 6 inches wider than a standard queen.

I put 2 double twin mattresses we had in our cabin(we sold it)
I built 2 small side boxes to hold up mattresses - works great

of course you can put in bigger plywood but you would still need to support the sides/ends

Folks, these are great ideas. The Olympic queen might be a tad too small, but I like the idea of building small boxes to support bigger mattresses.

A 6” extension to either side with 1/2” plywood or wafer board would be fine without additional support other than the original box under the bed.
