Here is a review of the Gen tent, it is designed to work on inverter type generators.

I have a "Bak-Flip" hard cover on the bed of my truck. I keep the generator in the truck bed all the time and just leave the tailgate open, with the generator underneath the cover protected from the rain. Actually quiets the generator somewhat as well, and heat build up doesn't seem bad. Historically I've used twin champion 2000 inverters, which I have to angle slightly so the exhaust goes aft more and not into the other generator. For the last few weeks, I've just been taking a single Harbor freight predator 3500 generator which works out easier, and is a little quieter than my champions. I've only used it in cooler mountain environments so far and can't say for sure what the heat build up would be in hot weather running high power for the AC, but expect it would be similar to the dual champions.

I have used a cheap plastic patio table from Walmart. It has a hole in the middle for a umbrella which I cover with a brick.
